Fred and Destra Echeverria are
specialists have been trained and specialized in diagnostics by
medical doctors in Hawaii and the USA, both in Ophthalmology and
Optometry for children and adults.
Their specialization include Optometry testing for myopia,
hyperopia, astigmatism, using Ocular Coherence Tomography, Fundus
Fotography, to detect Wet and Dry Age Related macular (AMD)
degeneration, Central Vein and Central Artery occlusions, Diabetic
Retinopathy, and other pathologies of the eye.
Additional testing and diagnostics can be done for macular edema,
retinal pigment epithelium detachement, macular holes, lamellar
holes, pseudo macular holes, retinal detachements, and other
pathologies.
These tests sometimes are given to children and adults who may be
supects of glaucoma, lens occlusions, diabetes and other pathologies,
but it is important that they are done, especially to adults and
children who may be at risk of vision defects here in Ecuador.
Previous Training and Work in South America
Conducted Exams and Manifest Refraction for "Comunas" or small coastal towns in Ecuador, at the province of Sta. Elena
Practiced Optometry in remote areas as part of a ministry to very poor communities in the Coastal Region of that country.
Previous Experience:
Optical and diagnostics specialists in Optometry and Ophthalmology trained in the USA.
Professor Echeverria holds a Master’s / Doctoral graduate degree
(Computer Science and Education) from Nova South Eastern University,
Fort Lauderdale, Florida and PhD from Hawaii On Line University,
Hawaii.
Teaching experience includes working as an adjunct professor at
Chaminade University and University of Hawaii, Manoa Campus in
Honolulu.
Professor Echeverria has also taught home-schooled students in all
STEM subjects. Subjects taught include Computer Science, Digital
Engineering design, Computer Applications, STEM based subjects, Math,
Calculus, Pre Calculus, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Genetics,
Ophthalmic, Optometry and Hearing science practices
